Activision / Blizzard Merger completed

47 second read

It has recently been announced that the merger between Activision and Blizzard that was announced back in December has finally been completed.

The new mega gaming company Activision Blizzard scores a zero on the originality scales but will hopefully make up for it with some great new games.

To the economic minded people out there could you explain this line to me?

Through it, Blizzard and Sierra parent Vivendi becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision, scoring 295.3 new shares of Activision stock. It’ll also buy 62.9 million new shares for a total of $1.7 billion – the result is that Vivendi owns a stake of about 52 percent in its new parent company

Wouldn’t that mean that Blizzard actually owns Activision?

  • Lupus

    Blizzard probably owns Activision

  • Fred

    The oil companies owns everybody.

  • “As a result of the merger, Vivendi Games, the parent company of Blizzard Entertainment and Sierra, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision.”.

Activision basically buys out Vivendi, then Vivendi buys back into Activision to form the partnership.

    It’s Easy.

“Vivendi Games” is owned by “Activision-Blizzard” which is owned by “Vivendi”.

All very straight forward. No corporate lawyers needed to untangle that mess at all.
