Now Assassin’s Creed 3 may be a bug-riddled mess with a weaksauce ending and gameplay pilfered from the Arkham Asylum, but…Well that doesn’t too good, does it? While AC3 was enjoyable, al those damn bugs certainly soured the experience for me, on my Xbox 360. The game is headed to PC though, and according to Ubisoft, the glorious PC chosen people won’t have to worry about such game-breaking issues, because AC3 is getting double-patched before release.
In a Reddit AMA thread, Ubisoft staff members answered questions about the upcoming PC release and plans for patches. “Lots of bug fixes incoming. PC release will include the first two patches on release,” creative director Alex Hutchinson typed.
Gabe Graziani then confirmed that the PC version would also ship with all the DLC that the consoles had, and that the extra wait for the port was thanks to Ubisosft having “added a lot more detail to the PC version and support for DX11. Stuff that we didn’t really need to think about for the console versions”.
While that version of the game has already been patched, a second one is also on the way, and is due “really really soon” according to Graziani. Ubisoft has plans for those patches, to allow them to add new features to the game, such as allowing Connor to be able to raise his hood in the post-ending game world, for example.
AI and gameplay team lead Aleissia Laidacker said that Ubisoft was also looking to tweak the controls for when players were in chase missions, a headache from the game that caused Geoff to bleed from his eyes whenever we mention it around him.
Assassin’s Creed 3 had the potential to be great, but the end product was something that felt broken and completely rushed near the end. An unlikeable main character and a clumsy interface didn’t help either, but at least the game had naval battles.
Sweet Juno, I’d sell Yolanda’s soul for an Assassin’s Creed game that was just naval battles!
