Assassin's Creed going to India?

Assassin’s Creed will be releasing a new comic book, this time set in 19th century India. While this may just be yet another comic book to cash in on the success of the Assassin’s Creed hype, there may also be info on future story lines for the next Assassin’s Creed games.

In an update on the Ubisoft blog, it was confirmed that the next installment in the comic book series will be Assassin’s Creed: Brahman. It will be set in 19th century India, where Arbaaz Mir fights to free India from British colonial rule. I think India has an awesome setting for this franchise – such unique environments, I just wish we could run around and play there! Apparently, though, this comic might be used to tease future story lines:

“If you’re interested in what the future holds for Assassin’s Creed beyond Black Flag, this is a must-read.”

Personally, I think that this could be an awesome new direction for the franchise. Most people are getting tired of Europe and the US of A as backdrops. It would be nice to see some Eastern assassins getting some attention. I would love to see a wider range of assassin stories told – different ethnicities and genders were (are) also assassins. Why not explore those situations?

In any event, here are some preview pages from Assassin’s Creed: Brahman. What do you think of this new direction?

This would be an interesting setting, but let’s see if Black Flag makes AC fun again first.

Maybe, but I was thinking along the lines of the awesome (horrible) puns you could have in this book:

“Our benefactor was hoping you would stake out the pl… I apologize. BAD CHOICE OF WORDS AND ACCCKKK!!!!”

        and

“They have a Brahman for an assassin? What kind of bullshit is this?”
        and
“You did not hear of Achmat? His parents was killed by an Assassin last week. Now he’s got some kind of beef with everyone he meets.”
