Assassin’s Creed Rogue coming to PC, gets trailer

ACR fight

As the last-generation Assassin’s Creed game this year, Assassin’s Creed Rogue got more than a little flak for not also releasing on PC. Now Ubisoft has announced that the game will also be coming for the PC master race early next year.

But what’s the game about? We know it rounds out the Kenway saga, but now we get to find out how Shay went from being an assassin to going rogue and joining the templars.

For those who don’t watch videos, the long and short of it is that Shay is sent on an assassin mission that results in the deaths of many innocent people. On a quest for redemption, he decides to join the templars and make amends for his previous actions. It seems that both Rogue and Unity explore the concept of guilt and redemption, although Rogue will also feature appearances from Haytham, Adéwalé and Achilles. Apparently, we can even expect more familiar faces in the game as the Kenway saga is completed.

I’m really glad that the game will be coming to more platforms; I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before it’s given a bit of an upgrade and brought to new generation consoles, too. Meanwhile, at least the PC gamers who have been playing through the whole franchise can continue to do so with Assassin’s Creed Rogue before jumping into Assassin’s Creed Unity. Of course, the PC gamers’ response will probably be to cringe when they realize this will mean more Uplay.

Last time I played Rogue, it felt like more of Black Flag – I’m not saying that’s a bad thing considering how great that game was. However, I’m curious to see if they can expand on the gameplay, or if it will be the culmination of last generation’s offering. Most of all, I’m keen to see how the present day (out of the Animus) story continues in both Rogue and Unity; they did such a great job with that aspect in Black Flag, I’m hoping that they continue in the same vein with Rogue and Unity.

Man, Assassins Creed is probably the game that gets me the least excited when I see news about it.

I just feel the franchise has become diluted, requiring tricks to keep it alive and keeping people buying it. But it’s clearly just me because year on year it seems to carry on doing well.

The Jackdaw was fantastic. What a breath of fresh air for the franchise. Now its back to social assassins.

ANOTHER game? “If you have a PS4, choose THIS installment. If you have a PC, choose THIS installment”

    LAME!

Besides, the cash-cow is starting to run dry.

Ubisoft is the Western version of Square. Milk the shit out of Final Fantasy on every device including pay to play cell phone games.

Unity, rouge, brotherhood, that one for the Vita, those other 4 with that other one chucked in between 2 and 3.

I lost interest awhile ago and its not as if the endings of these games want you coming back for more either. In fact the Narrative hides behind sequel bait. Whoever invented the Animus as the story arch is on a fat pay packet, thats for sure.

    Coffee time…

I hope the PC version runs at 30FPS. Don’t want to be deprived of any cinematic moments!

Never thought much of the AC franchise until I bought the collection last year on the Xbox 360. First one was meh but when I started playing the second one… I was hooked like an 80s child actor on Coke.

The Ezio saga was still the best imo although Black Flag was insanely fun with the ship battles. I’ll probably get Rogue and Unity eventually but it will have to wait, way too many awesome games coming out now.

What Assassin’s Creed does so well is stealth and locations. This was the first game since GTA to go full on open-world and it’s a marvel to see how gaming can evolve. Sure it’s another Assassin’s game but Assassin’s Creed hasn’t been a grindfest like those online only MP and F2P games we have lately.
