Assassin’s Creed: Rogue is a culmination of lessons

Ubisoft is doing the unthinkable this year and splitting the Assassin’s Creed fans – sure, some people will buy both Assassin’s Creed: Rogue and Assassin’s Creed: Unity, but most will opt for either the old generation or new generation experience. In a new interview, Rogue is made out to be the best of what Assassin’s Creed has to offer.

Here is the short interview:

I do like that they tried to make gameplay different when you become a templar compared to an assassin. They talk about the unlimited resources of the templars – does this mean that once players go rogue they can get all the money for upgrades? It doesn’t seem like it, but at least you get access to a variety of new weapons, including cool new grenades.

Of course, by going against the Assassins, you’ll also be going up against them in combat. This could mean we’ll see some more challenging game play and possibly some innovative new experiences. However, it seems like most of it will be more of what we saw in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing – that game was a ship-load of fun; it just means that the game might not feel like the leap forward that Unity is.

Are you planning on picking up Rogue next month, or will you don a beret and buy a baguette as you prepare for Assassin’s Creed: Unity? Are you keen to see the end of the Kenway saga, or are you over that family and ready for something more revolutionary? Still need some more convincing? Here are 20 minutes of Rogue gameplay:

Will probably pick of Unity, unless I don’t, which means I will probably pick up the next one, or the one after that.
