A small number of people who purchased the PC version of Black Ops 2 yesterday found that instead of one whole game, they had two halves – of different games. A manufacturing error meant that the second disc in those copies was actually for Mass Effect 2. Bioware’s used as an exercise in great PR – by giving those affected free copies of Mass Effect.
“Rumor has it that about a thousand customers who purchased Call of Duty: Black Ops II for PC today were also treated to a surprise copy of Mass Effect 2. If you were one of the affected, chances are you thought it was a mistake, but we prefer to think that it was an omen, and when the universe talks, you should listen,” the developer said on its blog.
The first fifty affected consumers who send through proof will be given a code to download the entire Mass Effect trilogy.
“If the universe thinks that you should be playing Mass Effect right now, who are we to argue? In fact, we want to help.”
Genius.
