Call of Duty World at War Map Pack bought and paid for 4 million times

It’s weird thinking back now to previous console generations when the idea of what you bought is all you get was normal. If you picked up a game you never expected it to be enhanced in any way and you never even thought about playing online against millions of people.

Well all that has changed and Activision has now announced that their COD World at War map packs have now been downloaded over four million times since their release.

That’s a whole lot of money that Activision and Treyarch would never have received before and goes a long way in proving that DLC is a viable business model.

They have also announced that there have now been 11 million units sold of World at War on all platforms and with another map pack in the pipeline we may be seeing 3 Call of Duty titles in the top 10 by the end of this year.

Though to be fair I do expect COD4 to fall of the charts as soon as Modern Warfare 2 hits.
