Breaking News : Capcom Licence Finalised! And the Winner is…

Capcom There’s been a lot of rumour, confusion and even discourtesy lately with regards to the status of Capcom distribution in South Africa. Hopefully, we’ll be able to put that all behind us, as it seems we finally have details of a distributor.

A post on the 360 forums by Am_nesia, an employee of kalahari.net informs us that the licence has been awarded to Nu-Metro. This comes at an opportune time for Nu-Metro; Two of the most hotly anticipated games of the first quarter – Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 – are Capcom titles. Hopefully the distribution fiasco hasn’t lead to any delays, but with Street Fighter IV’s imminent release on the 17th, a delay-free local launch seems unlikely.

It was speculated that Ster Kinekor was renegotiating the Capcom deal, but it seems they’ve been unsuccessful. With recent rumours that they’ve lost Konami too, one can’t help but wonder what’s happening at Ster Kinekor.

While this all seems above board, we’ve yet to receive official confirmation, so we’re keeping this tagged as rumour.

We’re doing all we can to get offical confirmation, so watch this space!
