Capcom Supersizes iPhone Titles

During a talk at the Reuter Global Technology Summit in Tokyo, Capcom CEO, Kazuhiko Abe made it known to the world that they intend to develop and release ten new titles for the iPhone and iPod touch. They plan to do this by the end of this fiscal year and hope that this will strengthen their mobile division which seemed at the end of the last fiscal… the division really just seemed like a tiny dog on a leash being dragged across the road by a toddler.

Although most of the last fiscal year’s numbers didn’t include two of the publishers key releases, Resident Evil: Degeneration and Mega Man 2 as both titles were released later in the years. Some other Titles that they have already released include, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader 2009.

Its stories like these, of a well-known developing studio branching off that make me think the gaming world is becoming convoluted with choice… a fact that renders paradoxical images in my head. One of which is of myself sitting at a banquet table and stuffing myself with all the choice while in the other image I’m freaking out because I don’t know where to start!

the same could be said for movies, which there is a plethora of choice on almost a monthly basis.
games will eventually, if not already, follow the marketing route of movies by over hyping, thus deciding the choice for the consumer.
