Good news for South African gamers who like their playtime a little quirkier. Off-the-wall dramatic puzzle platformer Catherine is finally headed to our shores. We already knew that Publisher Deep Silver would be bringing Atlus’ game to European territories this year – but thanks to Deep silver’s local distributor Apex Interactive, we’ve gotten confirmation that it’ll actually be available locally.

"We are very proud to be able to publish Catherine in all PAL territories as a Deep Silver game", said Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Deep Silver when they nabbed the publishing deal. "Catherine is something new, fresh and exciting; unlike anything else in the gaming world – a unique mixture of genres. This agreement proves once again that games published under the Deep Silver label are not ‘more of the same’, ‘run of the mill’ productions."

It looks like we’ll be getting the European exclusive Stray Sheep Edition, a limited run that includes :

  • An exclusive T-Shirt that is a replica of the Rave-T-Shirt that Vincent wears in the game
  • Two Stray Sheep bar-themed coasters
  • A seductive Catherine poster that is exclusively available in this deluxe edition
  • A pizza delivery box from the Stray Sheep Bar that serves as the packaging for all the extra items found in the European deluxe edition

“We wanted to offer Europe’s Catherine fans something special and unique, something that was not available before,” said Peter Brolly, brand manager at Deep Silver. “And with a very competitive price point for the Deluxe edition, we ensure that it’s an extremely attractive proposition – just like Catherine herself.”

No word on price just yet, but we’re getting Catherine for Ps3 and Xbox 360 on March 2 this year.

Editor. I’m old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time – they were capable of being masterpieces. I’m here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
