One of the biggest questions on everyone’s mind has been that of the price of the new tablet-style controller for the upcoming Nintendo Wii U.
Nintendo have confirmed to CVG that not only is the console only designed for one of the new controllers at a time, but the controllers will not actually be sold separately. What, what? More info after the jump.
According to the report, when a company spokesperson was questioned on the matter they said that:
“Both the controller and the console will be sold as one unit. You won’t be able to buy the controller alone.”
It was also reported that it’s currently unknown whether or not more than one controller will even be able to be synchronized with the unit, but that the multuplayer games in development are only designed to use one, while the rest of the players will need to use Wii-motes (I am going to assume that the pad controller will still work too).
So at this point, we are left with a ton of questions. How is this going to work, what happens if your controller breaks and you need a new one, will you need to buy a whole new unit? At the price we posted about earlier today, I can’t see that happening very easily.
