Grand Theft Auto V, the gift that keeps on giving. Especially if you’re a dab hand at the intricacies of modding and have access to a PC capable of running Rockstar’s beastly sandbox. If you’ve ever fancied getting around Los Santos quicker and without the need for wheels, then rejoice! Straight out of Crysis comes a mod that enables players to slip into the iconic Nanosuit of that franchise and jump over all manner of obstacles and an impending lawsuit from EA Games.
Here’s what it looks like in action, courtesy of modder JulioNIB and the GTA V – Crysis script mod, via DSO Gaming:
If you’ve never ever had a Crysis in your life before (LUCKY BUGGER), that suit formed the key gimmick of that series. That, and having people ask you if your PC can run the first game became kind of a running joke. Per the Crysis wiki because I’m slightly hammered right now and need to get a certain number of words in:
Nanosuits (also known as Nano-muscle suits) are powerful and extremely versatile sets of tactical-combat armor originally designed to counter the dormant Ceph threat and circumvent the technological margin between Mankind and the Ceph.
Reverse-engineered from captured Ceph technology, the suits’ CryFibril muscle fibers can be programmed for a variety of purposes (such as hardening, muscle augmentation or camouflage), leading to drastically enhanced combat and physical performance, allowing the operator to execute superhuman feats. This is permitted through the suits’ ability to adapt and absorb energy in a myriad of forms ranging from, but not limited to heat, solar, radiation, static, kinetic, and even carbon.
These suits are the pinnacle, and most technologically advanced piece of hardware in human possession as of 2020 (by 2023, it was surpassed by the Nanosuit 2.0).
Imagine having one of those suits when you go do your shopping. That’ll show those old ladies who take up entire aisles who’s the boss. Wheee look at them fly!
