You know, I remember the days when homework meant slaving away at math you don’t understand, writing an awkward speech you had to memorise for the whole class and reading that book you never read, oh wait – I don’t, because I didn’t do homework! MWAHAHAHAHA! In related news, there is a school that’s made Minecraft a compulsory subject.

The Minecraft lessons will be taught to 13-year old students of a Swedish school to teach them about city planning, environmental issues and even how to plan for the future. How awesome is that? It really makes me proud to be a gamer and see that games that have come to be sensational in the industry are being used as educational tools.

The Local reports that “Around 180 students take part in the lessons, learning how to build virtual worlds, complete with electricity grids, water supply networks and indeed anything else that may come to mind.”

Here’s to great news in the very dismal wake of that nasty blame shifting aura hanging over our heads.
