DiRT 2 Reality Check – Real vs Game Footage

1 min read

So here comes a new video from Codemasters called the Reality Trailer and puts real footage and game footage in the same video, leaving us to figure out what is real and what is game footage.

I have to be honest and say that while I think that DiRT 2 looks stunning I found that the real life footage showed its flaws more than its realism. As much as there are bits here and there which fit in, it actually made me realise how far we still have to go before games will look as good as real life, especially when it comes to things like lots of loose gravel and dust pouring out of the cars.

See it for yourself, video after the jump.

Looks great but I hate how they stuck in cars that have absolutely no link to rallying or any rally pedigree eg. Nissan 350Z, BMW Z4 etc. Since when do they use RWD cars in rallying?

EDIT: Since when do they use RWD cars in rallying after the 70’s / 80’s. MK2 Escorts were just plain mean

These sporty modern coupes don’t belong in a rally game though.
