The Division Crafting (5)

There’s a lot of great gear to be found in The Division. Some of it may be dropped by high-level enemies. Some of it may be found in the Dark Zones. Some of it may be found on the corpses of your best pals in the Dark Zones after a heated debate as to which flavour of chips is the best (It’s not f***ing salt and vinegar. But some of the very best gear, comes from crafting.

There’s a whole eco-system set up in The Division, that’s devoted solely to creating better equipment for your agent, like a cosplay effort that has become too real maaaaaaaan. Here’s how you can started in the crafting system.

Crafting station location

The Division Crafting (6)

Inside your Base of Operations (BOO! HA!) of course. Of course.

Blueprints

The Division Crafting (2)

Blueprints are easy enough to get your hands on. Simply complete side-missions, and you’ll receive them as a reward. Or alternatively, you can find them in the game world. Blueprints will also clue you in on what resources you’ll need to craft certain gear and weapons. The best blueprints however, are your gold prints. You’ll find these in the hands of Dark Zone vendors, or at your base if the right tech has been unlocked. These will cost you either some Dark Zone currency, or the more elusive Phoenix currency, depending on the vendor.

Crafting gear categories

Here’s a handy dandy list of stuff that you can cobble together from your various resources, that sometimes have sub-categories within like a never-ending rabbit hole with schizophrenia:

  • Weapons
  • Masks
  • Body Armor
  • Backpacks
  • Gloves
  • Holsters
  • Knee Pads
  • Weapon Mods
  • Gear Mods
  • Material Conversion

Crafting resources

The Division Crafting (4)

You can’t build anything if you don;t have the right materials. Weapons need weapon parts, armour needs fabric and so on. You can find this stuff out in the game world, or alternatively, you can save leftover guns and dismantle them instead. Look, the tempattion to hock them for some quick funds is certainly there, but the vendors are particularly stingy with how much they’ll offer you, and most of the time their own wares don’t even match what you might find in New York.

Here’s a list of materials that you’ll need to keep an eye out for:

  • Fabric
  • Weapon Parts
  • Tools
  • Electronics
  • Division Tech

Crafting costs

The Division Crafting (3)

The actual crafting economy is simple enough. Want a green weapon? Then you need green materials. Blue gear requires blue materials, and on it goes again. Now you could just stock up on green gear and weapon drops, or you could use what you have to get what you want. At your crafting station, you can exchange five materials for one higher level material at a ratio of 5:1. So five green materials will net you one specialised blue material, while five of those bluebies will net you one orange high-end part.

So lots of crafting then. You’re looking at…I’m not going to say. I’m terrible at maths.

  1. I was at this crafting station and I got myself 2 blues for my 10 greens. But it could be because I didn’t know that you can sell your old guns and gear… I’ll just stick to getting crafting material for them for now. Still on level 4, my week is such a bitch! Can’t find time to play.

I haven’t even loaded up the game since I did the patch update. I’ve been trying to play but everything is stopping me from playing so pretty frustrated
