Doom for XBLA – I’m not excited

Doom2

Doom is one of the all time great FPS titles, flying around on my level plain blowing Nazi’s (styled demons) up with my shotgun was a great experience growing up and it really helped form a solid base for my gaming career.

So you would think that news of Doom 2 coming to the XBLA would be exciting, well it’s not.

The previously unannounced title was spotted at Quakecon and from the brief glimpse of it in this picture we can see it’s just like the original version. Which isn’t anywhere near as good as the titles we get today and I for one cannot see the fascination of going back to a game that I have finished (multiple times) and playing it again knowing it’s severe limitations.

Doom multiplayer was fun in it’s day but it’s day is gone and this title should be put in the same black whole as the movie has gone to.

I for one welcome our future robotic overlords

  • Ruslan

Doom had Nazi’s? Did you modify your levels for that extra content?

  • pantsula

Was thinking the same thing, although nazi’s can be classified as demons, don’t think it counts

  • Cleric

Um… while nazis and demons are both evil, I’ve never confised the two :p

  • Nazi’s = Demons… Well that’s my excuse anyway

  • Woopy

    Dude check your spelling….

    hole not whole

If they redid Doom 1 and 2 as well as quake with a new engine I would buy it, Replaying and old game just destroys my happy memories, Well except Adventure Games.

  • Cleric

I just wanna replay the Quake 1 campaign co-op like in the good old days. It was the 1st co-op shooter I’d ever played.

  • Nick is gonna kick my ass…

He pointed that out before this story went live and I forgot to fix it as we were being hammered on the Evony story.

Apologies all round, I’ll take a fine for that one (beer please)
