Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer is all about customization, and loot

DAI MP run

I’m still quite skeptical about the Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer, but I’ve decided that just because I don’t like 4-player co-op in my single player games doesn’t mean that other people won’t enjoy it. Here’s how some of you might be having a ton of fun when the game launches.

When you and your three closest friends (or completely strangers) take up arms as agents of the inquisition, you will get to customize all the things. This official multiplayer trailer shows off 130 weapon customizations, 80 armor customizations and a whole bunch of new skills. Just as featured is all the loot and hidden treasure:

For those of you who played Mass Effect 3 and enjoyed the co-op, it’s looking more and more like that. It seems like a separate experience for those who enjoy it, but it can be ignored by those who don’t want to play. In fact, unlike ME3 where you were encouraged to complete multiplayer missions to increase your galactic readiness, there is nothing in Dragon Age: Inquisition that seems to force you to get involved in the co-op.

There you have it – a co-op experience for those who want it, with a strong single player for those who don’t. They are boasting 200 hours of gameplay for completionists. I suppose people will only check out multiplayer if that’s their thing, not because the game is lacking in content. You can send operatives out on missions in single player – I assume this is just to add to the experience by seeing what those operatives actually get up to. I just want the game to release already so that I can see and feel all of this for myself instead of taking Bioware’s word for it.

Awesome. Could EA potentially be making a good game focused on the gamer instead of what they think the world wants?

I’m actually starting to feel overly saturated with all these DA trailers. To be honest, the one screenshot teasers were far more hype. I feel like I know too much about the game now.

Is it just me or is there a trend lately where we get hour long playthroughs and trailers before the game is out detailing every little mechanic? I don’t like this. There was a point in time where all I had was just an article in NAG to go by and by the time I played the game, I kept getting surprised by the new things they threw at me.

I have not watched a single trailer for DA:I or most of the the other games I’m interested in (I did watch 1 trailer for Shadow of Mordor though).

I know nothing about the gameplay (other than it might be similiar to DA:O and DA2) and all I know about the story is you play as an Inquisitor who is building up an army or something for some reason or other and you aren’t doing it to wipe out all the mages.

The key is to avoid anything that seems like it might be a spoiler, including screenshots or concept art of random environments.
It also helps keep the hype within controllable levels.

I tend NOT to watch these trailers, lest I spoil something.

Take a recent experience, I watched Cap America Winter Soldier, and the elevator fight scene (shown in TRAILERS) spoiled the scene for me :/

i watch the announcement trailers, after that, i dont even look at the screenshots that zoe posts.
        the game must be FRESH!

you can see how that makes browsing here quite difficult, with zoe posting screens every few days

    As I said before:
I don’t particularly care as long as the single player campaign does not suffer for it.
I will probably play the co-op with a friend but that won’t be my focus for this game.

The multiplayer in ME3, turned an excellent game to just a good one. ME2 was the best BY FAR. At least Dragon Age multiplayer wont affect the outcopme of SP

I spent 90% of ME2 running around with a sniper that I could only use 8 times before running out of ammo.
I ended up using nothing but fireballs to fight enemies and even with maxed damage it took 2 fireballs to kill the basic enemies.
Watching an enemy burn gets incredibly boring after the 200th time.

It all felt extremely shallow. the story and everything is amazing but the gameplay has the potential to be godlike if they only added more depth. I was hoping for a deep tactical shooter, but was just more pew pew than anything else

I wasnt aware that multiplayer in ME3 would affect the outcome, and I had taken all the time and effort in SP to do everything, but then still got a crap ending, made me mad, but the gameplay etc was still very good.

      thats debatable.
i REALLY enjoyed the multiplayer, for an RPG series where you couldnt choose your race, the multiplayer opened up all the races that we all wanted to play.
krogan vanguard, asari justicar and turian soldiers.
ignoring the ending, and anything that is involved with the ending at all, i thought the multiplayer was fan service, really good, high quality fan service.

tbh, when i first played ME2, while I loved it, and there were many improvements, i felt they streamlined it too much, it felt smaller, the skill tree had been mutilated and shepard felt like less of a bamf.
when i dont consider the ending from 3, i thought 3 was a better game, it played better, had so much more scale and the story had so many small moments

Indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed the MP, which was surprising since I was very much against it before the the game was released.
One of my favourite games was where our entire team chose Krogan soldiers/vanguards/battlemasters and proceeded to headbutt the crap out of everything that moved….good times.

So all I can say to everyone is, don’t be too quick to judge. Wait for the game to come out, give it a chance and see what happens. It might just surprise you.
If not, no big deal, your single player experience is intact and unaffected.
