Dragon Age: Inquisition promises trillions of options

DAI kill it with light

Dragon Age: Inquisition is coming in a couple short months and I’m chomping at the bit to play it. It will be great to immerse myself in the world of Thedas again and I’m keen to see what Bioware did to learn from all their previous mistakes. According to a new infographic, they did a lot.

Here is the info graphic from Bioware, posted on the Dragon Age Facebook page.

DAI infographic

I like that there are different versions of the male and female voices – with four voices to choose from it won’t just be a binary experience in that regard. Here’s hoping they also have a variety of running animations – I know there were some criticisms of how Fem-Shep ran compared to normal Shepard in Mass Effect. It would be good if they learned from that and figured out how to make a woman run like a normal mammal.

I’m very keen to explore all those 200 abilities, talents and upgrades… I’m not so worried about the various mounts or weapons and armor, but I do love some complex upgrading. Also, who is going to play with the 15 variations of drapes in the Skyhold? Then again… I might cycle through the options until I find one that I like. Black and Red or nothing. Right?

Do you see all these options as a sign of a great game, or a desperate plea from Bioware to not be seen as repetitive and recycling the same assets? Will you be exploring the trillions of options, or just taking the first one that looks okay?

“make a woman run like a normal mammal” lulz! Women aren’t mammals Zoe, they’re mythical creatures invented by liberals to make men feel bad while playing games. #gamersgatefacts #truth #sunlightliquidisagreatcoffeeadditive

I feel like it’s unnecessary to ask, but there’s probably a story to that last hashtag.

Ever make yourself a cup of coffee at work, sit back, take a nice long sip, savour the warmth, then have an aftertaste that makes you realise the cleaning lady didn’t RINSE the mug.

Hence why I wash my own mug, and why when colleagues complain about it I say nothing, just sit there quietly with my shoulders wiggling slightly.

I can answer that, none, because they said they want all of the customization options to be free, maybe there will be added content added along with actual game content DLC, but these “trillions of options” they are referring to are all free.

I must admit, this “150 types of armour” doesn’t really intrigue me much. Skyrim had, what, nine or eleven different types but you had to work hard to get to the best one. I liked that more than a zillion options though there are probably 90% of them that you’ll never even use because you just skip it.

        Haha.
I have the Dragon Ebonsteel mod. That is truly the best damn armour ever. Looks the nicest too.
But I just always feel with RPG games like most of the armours are so unnecessary. You skip over SO MANY of them. Rather make it progressive and harder to attain. That’s appealing.

I was never satisfied, i really struggled with getting my alchemy level up, so my potions were never quite strong enough to get the max out of my potions…

            max out skills
craft armour, take enchanting potion, enchanting with alchemy properties, put on armour create new potions to increase alchemy, enchanting & smithing. repeat process untill satisfied. (or did they patch that?)
craft armour, take enchanting potion, enchant with improved smithing, put on armour.
craft armour, take smithing potion, upgrage armour.
take enchanting potion, enchant new armour.

realise you forgot something or used the wrong enchantment / gem, start again.
after 2 hours, complete your armour.
place armour on dummy, never use it.

            October 3, 2014 at 15:30

            Haha. Quite true.
I did the same with creating armour just for my dummy.

lol. Across our various companies some use 5-digit account codes, while we use alpha-numeric – 3 chars & 2 digits. Our finance head wanted to standardise it & said we must all switch to 5-digit because alpha-numeric is stupid because it has less combinations. Guess how popular I was when I pointed out that mathematically the opposite is true. 😀

Those are some marvellous stats they’ve chucked at us, but if the story and characters (minus a few notable exceptions) are as sub-par as last time no amount of armour combos or crafting recipes will save DA.
