Dust: An Elysian Tale finally coming to Playstation

How Bambi really died
The PS4 is a real indie machine, when you start factoring out some of its AAA titles. That’s in no way a bad thing, especially since some quality titles that were once exclusives are now making their way to Sony’s platform. Dust: An Elysian Tale is the next game to make the jump.

The fantastic 2D side-scroller was first launched exclusively on the Xbox 360, making it’s way to PC a little while back. Yesterday, developer Dean Dodrill revealed that the title would be making its Sony debut on the PS4 “very soon”.

Dust is a remarkable title for a few reasons. It’s incredibly pretty, has a robust and deep combat system and characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. If you don’t believe me, then maybe you’ll believe Fidget, your companion throughout the entire Elysian Tale.

“Imagine a 2D side-scrolling platformer, with crazy-fast swordplay and screen-clearing MAGIC supplied by yours truly,” she said. “There are power-ups! Special abilities! Hidden passages! A whole world of STUFF to find! Main Quests! Side quests! We’ve even got a quest where you can choose to put poison ivy into some jerk’s laundry! I KNOW! It’s magical! Let’s poison his laundry TOGETHER!”

I think a lot of her charm is lost if you have no idea who she actually is, but that’s no longer going to be a problem. Dust: An Elysian Tale will now be on all major platforms, albeit on different generations. There’s no word on a PS3 version, which make very little sense to me.

In fact, this would be a perfect game for the Vita, with cross-play support. Instead, my Vita is just picking up another type of dust entirely.

I loved this game so damn hard. It was the first side scroller that I had played in about a decade.

after seeing how amazing the Trine 2 PS4 port was in 3D, I really wish that games like this would also support that.
