It’s Microsoft’s special day so we won’t go pestering them about stealing our name and not giving us Live right now, but don’t worry that didn’t pass by unnoticed.
Anyway back to the point, Project Natal is looking incredible to say the least and I think it’s fair to say that Nintendo may be stressing just a little bit at the moment. If this camera works like Microsoft is saying it does then they have overtaken Nintendo’s stranglehold on the motion sensing department and added full HD graphics into the mix to boot.
Then they have plugged it into a truly integrated online environment and hooked up to the social networking sites at the same time.Â
Honestly I can’t believe they are going to be able to pull it all off right now, but I hope they do.

personally, the idea of standing in front of my tv looking like a right pillick, is not appealing in the slightest (not that it doesn’t happen a lot, i just don’t need encouragement).
if this ever comes to light, they will need to find a beneficial use for it, and not a gimmicky tool thats gonna end with your foot planted squarely in your expensive hd tv.

According to IGN you fully play Burnout with it allready…
Just moving your feet translates to faster/slower and pretending to drive… drives!

I am open to the idea but see it more as a complimentary function to the standard controller , would be nice to wave and do hand signals ( you know wich ones) to other players in COD , but no jumping up and down for me please.

We’re all going to get one of these and I’ll tell you why.
Just imagine you playing COD4… with your normal control.. and then you lean to the side to look around the corner… and you can!
Head Tracking will be incredibly easy with this!

It sounds just too brilliant. I like the idea that they are developing games for the casual market for this and that you can do other stuff like paint with it. Sounds nice for the kids and teens too.

I’ve been waiting for something like this…
RPGs – the characters look at you when they talk
FPSs – head tracking
Fighting Games – pulling tongues 😛
Racing games – driving
Card games – easy playing
Strategy games – Cant freaking wait – Anyone else remember that table demo MS had 4 or so years ago with a strategy game? Just now without a table!
This isn’t going to be used to do everything… but it’ll add little things that will really help you be more immersed into the game…
Just thought of another one… in a horror game… if you jump and get a fright when something happens, your character gets a fright and could stumble 😛

Well in the long run maybe they can make shooter like games where the skill not only involves who has the longest hours practicing with a remote but actually having to be the controller. just think how awesome it would be if you play COD4 or COD MW2 and you run after a oke to knife him just to see that he gets to tired to run away from you, and the the sweet swoosh sound of your knive in his back to end his agony. :pirate:

My missus is not into video gaming, it’s not for the lack of trying on my part, but when she saw Project Natal, her face lit up like a Christmas tree.
Well played Microsoft – a sure purchase when it comes out.

My missus wasn’t even talking to me last night and she was even willing to break that female rule to tell me how awesome this thing looks… That’s telling you something 😉

I still dont get the want for motion controllers?
I want to be chilling on my couch, not hoping about.
Think about how fast the wii became boring, gimmicks.
Ps this thing looks like it will be expensive!

It does look expensive but the ability to Minority Report my videos would be well worth the money… pity we can’t order the video’s though

I don’t even care if they don’t integrate it into shooters. I think it should only be integrated into games where it feels absolutely natural to use it, as for the other games, they should stick with the normal controller. I would probably just buy it because the voice control and Minority report type controller is so super cool, even If I just use it for the dash.

thats the major stumbling block with tech like this, its price prohibitive, effectively making it just a tech demo.
i can’t seeing working as advertised in the near future, nor being affordable to become appealing to the masses.
this sort of tech is, at best, only going to be viable in five years or so.
then again, i’m about as good at predicting these things as i am playing games.

Yesterday i realized how would one play guitar hero with this or even Rockband??? then it all just slipped away… Its probably only gonna be compatitble with some games.. Like Burnout for example
