Then a few expected announcements were made including a few games that are being remastered in HD. This included the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus collection. This wasn’t anything new to our eyes/ears, but it is always good to see. The only thing I was very disappointed by, was the lack of any updates regarding The Last Guardian. One of the most anticipated titles ever and they neglected to say anything about it… sigh.

One of the biggest stories to come out of the show was definitely Sony’s push on making the 3D experience to the general public. They announced the brand new Sony Playstation 3D Monitor. This new monitor will allow gamers to play in 3D without breaking the bank. With multi-view support, the monitor is just what we have been waiting for and at $499, comes with a set of 3D glasses packed and ready to go. This is something I could really get behind and I was generally left feeling impressed by the level of focus Sony is putting on the consumer.

Infamous 2 was up next and to be honest, didn’t show anything I hadn’t seen before. The game is pretty polish and considering it is launching this week, not much focus was put on Cole and his band of brothers. I did however have some hands on with the game after the show and I can tell you, it plays beautifully!

Next we got word that Little Big Planet 2 was getting more Move support in September, we were shown a unimpressive Starhawk trailer and dum, da, da dum, a new Sly Cooper! That’s right boys and girls; the slyest raccoon is back in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. We didn’t get to see any gameplay, but the teaser trailer was awesome. The game is scheduled for an early 2012 release.

Kaz Hirai then walked on stage and officially announced that the once named NGP was called the PlayStation VITA. Not only will it include cross-game chat, but Kaz stressed that the goal of the PSVITA is to build a seamless community with the PSVITA’s new range of social applications. I could go on to talk about what Kaz had to say about the PSVITA, but then I will be here till next week and frankly the featured article that Gavin just put up on the site is way better: PS Vita-Sony’s new handheld detailed

A few more tidbits on the PSVITA include a new Modnation Racers, a new title called Ruin (a sort of Diablo-esque hack and slash title that allows you to save your PSVITA game and then load it up on your PS3 to continue gaming from the same place) and the system seller, Street Fighter X Tekken that includes Cole from Infamous 2 as a playable character… yeah I know, I had the same reaction.

I was surprised that after SSX was announced (accompanied by a pretty shweet trailer) that the crowd was less than impressed and simultaneously responded with a polite, single clap. Okay it wasn’t that dramatic, but you get the picture. So while I am excited to snowboard down an exact replica of Mount Fiji, reconstructed from official NASA imagery, it seems that everyone else… isn’t.

It was around this time that everyone started doing that irritated toilet-seat-shuffle and if I am honest, things in my nether regions were telling me that this conference was going on far longer than it should have. But we all crossed our legs and held the pipes as Ken Levine walked on stage and revealed further details on BioShock Infinite. Turns out that BioShock Infinite will be coming to the PSVITA and will have Move support on the PS3. I don’t know about the Move support option Ken, but a portable BioShock, hells yeah!.

We all took a heavy sigh of relief as Jack returned to stage and closed out what was in my opinion, a very successful (if not long) Sony 2011 E3 conference

That is all she wrote folks. Make sure to check out all the other conference roundups around the site and stay tuned for a lot more E3 coverage to come as the week of E3 2011 continues.
