Battlefield3Aftershock

There is no shortage of useless games floating around the industry at the moment but how often have you heard of a publisher actually pulling a game off the shelves because of the amount of negative reviews it had received?

Well this has now happened to EA and I really do pity the development team behind the iOS App, Battlefield 3: Aftershock.

Apparently the game was a mini tie-in to the realistic military movie Act of Valor but the flood of negative reviews had sunk it’s average rating down to 2.5 stars amid a flood of complaints about it’s inability to find online games, useless controls and all round uselessness.

So instead of doing the normal thing and releasing a patch EA actually decided to pull the plug entirely and removed the app from the store and release a statement stating

EA Mobile is committed to delivering mobile entertainment experiences that are on par with the content and quality users have come toexpect from their favorite EA gaming brands. To this end, we have decided to remove Battlefield 3: Aftershock from the App Store and are currently re-evaluating the app in response to the consumer feedback we’ve received. We thank all the fans who have downloaded the game to date.

Somehow I think the development team behind this one isn’t going to be getting a bonus this year.
