EA turns small Madden NFL 15 glitch into heartfelt story

LOL IM SO FUNNY

I’ve had my fair share of glitches while gaming. Most of them have been the kind that make me want to enter world table flipping contests. They serve no purpose other than making your game experience as miserable as possible. You also get those glitches that turn out to be incredibly creepy, causing sleepless nights for many. Then there are those glitches that are just so damn silly that they turn out to be ridiculously funny.

Madden NFL 15 has been out for around 2 weeks or so now. While I’d imagine there to be a few minor bugs here and there, one glitch in particular has taken the world by storm and has been doing the rounds on the net. For some reason, the game will sometimes bug out and show the player Christian Kirksey as a teeny tiny model. What results is actually quite funny. This tiny NFL player is a lot tougher than he looks, and he can take down people that are much, much larger than he is.

Somebody at EA saw an opportunity. They utilised the bug and turned it into a trailer that is packed with a heartfelt motivational story. I haven’t cried that much in an NFL clip since I saw The Blind Side!

I have to take my hat off to EA for this, it’s a brilliant piece of PR for not only their game, but also Christian Kirksey. While you’d expect a game of this nature to sell well regardless, I think this will boost sales that little bit more.

What do you think though? Is it downright silly, or is it PR genius?

  1. Thank heavens the glitch didn’t have the players arms and legs bend like a victims would from a SAW movie scene 0_O

If Bethesda did this we’d have an entirely separate game and lore. But I think it’s quite ballsy, and it worked out well for them.

Did they give him a squeaky helium voice too? That would be priceless.

Are they serious?……spinning glitches into ‘positive’ PR….Seriously…Glitches aren’t funny, they even got the real player himself to get in on the ‘joke’ … I personally don’t find this to a really good thing….Madden fans has been getting the short end of the stick for a while now. NO EA…NO!

Sounds about right, would get another 4.2 if it had more pink hair & a gigantic sword.

Ok, I like this. It happened, cannot unhappen, so embrace it. Most companies are so scared to admit fault, they come across super silly.
