Destiny-Prison-of-Elders

If you want the best gear in Destiny, you’ve got to work for it. Legendary engrams don’t grow on trees ya know! Some of that gear can be won through sheer blind luck. Some of it can be bought from Friday specialist Xur, provided that you’ve got a few Strange Coins to part with. But right now, Ether Chests and the Prison of Elders are popular locales in the Destiny universe, ripe for the picking and grabbing of an engram or two. And it’s about to get a little bit easier to grab that loot in Destiny.

I’m talking about treasure keys of course. Usually, treasure keys required some farming, by taking on a pack of Fallen Wolves. The best spot to do so, was usually at the Skywatch on Earth. Otherwise, players could take a chance in the Prison of Elders and hope that the keys would drop from one of the smaller chests, provided that they survived the five rounds necessary to do so. The hard work however, is usually worth it. There’s a big ol’ chest at the end of the Prison of Elders, which has a high chance of dropping some of the best loot in the game of the exotic variety. If you have the treasure key of course.

Destiny’s latest patch, now guarantees at least one treasure key every week, simply by completing a Wanted Fallen bounty from the reef. Easy. Ether chests will now also have a greater chance of dropping the keys, as will the smaller chests in the Prison of Elders. And before we get to the full patch notes, here’s something else: It looks like The Taken King is indeed the next Destiny expansion. According to overpriced caffeine-laced drink Redbull that is, which gives you leeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaks. Thanks AGB:

And now for the patch notes from Bungie:

Key Highlights

  • The first Wanted Fallen Bounty completed each week is now guaranteed to drop a Treasure Key
  • Greatly increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from the small chests at the end of the Prison of Elders
  • Increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from Ether Chests

Prison of Elders

  • Greatly increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from the small chests
  • Class Items will now drop from Level 32, Level 34, and Level 35
  • Fixed a bug in which the Ship (Hildian Seeker) did not drop under certain circumstances
  • Fixed a bug in which the ‘Elder Cipher’ Bounty could not be acquired if your Bounty inventory was full
  • You will need to defeat Skolas again to receive the ‘Elder Cipher’ Bounty
  • Damage caused by Qodron’s Gaze is reduced by 25%
  • Damage multiplier for the Jailbreaker buff increased by 100%

Trials of Osiris

Fixed an issue in which Trials of Osiris emblems were not sent to the Postmaster if your Emblem inventory was full
Passage Coins can now be dismantled

Weekly Heroics: Fixed an issue where the Weekly Heroic strikes did not award engrams (Note: Tooltip will not display them as rewards)

World

  • Increased the drop rate of Treasure Keys from Ether Chests
  • Ether Chests may only be looted once per spawn
  • Ether Chests will no longer grant ammo consumables when opened
  • Ether Chests will now grant a small amount of Queen’s Wrath reputation when opened

Bounties: The first Wanted Fallen Bounty completed each week is now guaranteed to drop a Treasure Key

Weapons: Fixed a bug in which the 1.2.0.1 hotfix mistakenly did not contain the 1.1.1 Fusion Rifle balance changes. As a result, players were playing with its pre-1.1.1 weapon balance state. The original fix has been re-applied.

Items

  • Tokens of Flight, Identity, and Judgment can now be dismantled to gain +10 House of Judgement reputation each
  • Ammo consumables can now stack to 100

And yes, I’m fully into the game now. Here’s my Guardian, after 37 hours of play so far:

D Destiny

He kind of looks like a Scottish Master Chief.

  1. I should be playing Witcher, instead I got sucked back into this. Playing Iron Banner no less. O_o Those chests are a real pain to find. Even with the guide. Best is to farm one spot and learn all five possible locations. One key guaranteed is nice though. What isn’t nice is that they made all the farming I did during December redundant. Also Hunters with their golden guns are cheaper than Steam specials with those one shot kills.

i have noticed you on destiny quite a lot now, so I am resisting the urge to join , I don’t want it to interfere with witcher time, especially with our weekly GTA night also looming.

Hahahaha!!! I got Hammersteyn to play Iron Banner with me for two hours last night!! We started of strong and then got out asses handed to us after 22:00… 5 losses in a row stings a lot!
Darryn you started playing this game at the right time. What you accomplished in 37 hours took me at least a 150 hours… They have taken out most of the grind in the game in my opinion. Which is nice, unless you were grinding your way through like I did!

They really just took out the long hard grind for people who want to play on their own. I only got Ascendant Shards and Energy from getting Crucible and Vanguard marks, I used them to buy weapons and gear which I then dismantled and got 2-3 shards per dismantle. Every legendary weapon and gear needed 18 shards/energy. I have upgraded all my weapons +-8 and all my gear +- 8 before they started the House of Wolves, that is 288 shards/energy at 75 crucible marks for every 3 shards/energy…. Now you just buy the Shards/Energy from the speaker…. Imagine the anger I have at the game :-

I gave up trying to get keys. Might go back and try and get some now. At least I had exotic shards to upgrade the vex and gally. Need some etheric light as well.

That’s why I’m grinding the banner. Got to rank 1 and a half in one night. Once you reach rank three you can buy it for 5000 grimmore from him O_o

So, how many people have defeated Skolas in the lvl35 POE on here?

Also, how many have done it with both Solar and Arc Damage?
