Fallout 4 has gone gold

Put on that Vault 111 suit and dust off the Laser Pistol. Fallout 4 is now almost within reaching distance, with one of the most anticipated games of the year just a day and two weeks away from finally releasing. Bethesda has been steadily getting everyone more excited for their biggest release of the year, but nothing gets the blood following quite like knowing that a game has gone gold on time.

Which means there’s absolutely no way Fallout 4 won’t make its November 10th release date on any platform, barring some spectacular catastrophe in production. Bethesda announced the news over the weekend, with a screenshot of some packed copies of the game teasing everyone even more.

Fallout 4 – if you haven’t been paying attention most of this year- is the next big numbered sequel in Bethesda’s take on the franchise, joining the likes of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. From what we’ve seen it’s a fairly similar game too, with the now famous V.A.T.S system making a return to make some shots a little more sure than others. With that comes killing raiders, getting killed by grotesque mutants and looting every single locker you can possibly get your hands on.

One of the biggest changes is the way S.P.E.C.I.A.L and levelling up works. The seven pillars of Fallout gameplay now have perks within each of them, so burning points in one will unlock even more tiers for you to choose from. It’s a slight change to the way things were in Fallout 3, but it seems to make for a far more structured, streamlined way of building your characters.

Fallout 4 is out on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on November 10th. Are you picking it up?

Nice! I really think it’s a bad idea to just sell AAA games digitally.

What I really want is for you to pre-load a game regardless of how you pre-ordered it. Right now I have to wait for release day then go pick up the game then wait for work to finish then get home then install the game then patch the game then finally go to bed cause it is 12:00. 🙁

If that’s the case then it looks like Pip-boy approves of torrenting.

And the console versions? Much better or not? I suppose the Console game, in theory, is playable without internet.

OvG to tell us, then. Or rant us. Or rend us. Whichever he prefers at the time. I prefer, tell, but maybe that is just my innate need to stay un-rended as long as possible. Who knows.

I meant game on disk, but it is interesting how you went straight for PC is better graphics. Hmm.

IS it really? Or, put this another way, do I and millions of other console only (yes, yes, same games on PC) gamers really care?

I think it makes them feel better about themselves. Two ways to increase your self worth

            1. Better yourself
            2. Lower those around, thus raising your relative self worth

At least they have mods now, unfortunately they won’t be able to use mods to make it more eye candy like us PC noobs.

Gone GOLD lol. I always laugh when I here that. They should just say “gone into mass production while awaiting BETA day one patch, followed by the GOLD GOTY edition with all ALPHA code.

Hey, that is a little cynical. It is not like Fallout 3 or New Vegas or Oblivion or Skyirm shipped in a buggy state that needed a lot of revamping before it was nicely playable by everybody. On Xbox 360 and Ps3, not PC I mean. At all. Right. Um.

Yeah, that worries me too, massively. Fallout 3 was about the only game that hung my Xbox 360 and then I searched and man did it have issues on the supposedly good for release console market.

I love my Bethesda games. But I spent a LOT of time waiting for my pre-order, PS3 version of Skyrim to get a patch to make it playable with that save game issue. My Fallout 3 and New Vegas on PC still crash occasionally. So, yeah, it’s almost tradition! Trying to keep my expectations right so that I’m not raging if it happens again. But I pre-ordered it ’cause it’s Fallout and it’s gonna be AWESOME!

Can anyone tell me when the reviews will be out relative to game release day? Will it be a case of reviews being out up to 5 days before release like MGS V? I’d really like to know the state of the game before I pre-order… Fallout New Vegas was a fantastic experience, but the level of game/save breaking bugs in the first week nearly made me stop playing for good…nearly. I don’t think I could do that to myself again. This game is a must-play for me, but I’m getting too old for 15 hour saves getting destroyed by bugs :/
