FIFA '08 will thrash PES7

In one of the most suprising statements made this year the marketing manager of EA has come out and stated that Fifa 2008 is going to be better than PES 7… Yeah maybe he isn’t the most independent source on the planet but he may have a point…

“I’m happy to say that we’re comfortably on top in the whole FIFA vs Pro Evolution Soccer battle,”

I have been playing PES6 recently and I unfortunately have to admit that I have been completely underwhelmed. I knew the graphics where going to be bad before I got it but I was very excited about the gameplay.

Maybe I am just missing something but the gameplay is sadly lacking, apart from needing perfect timing it really doesn’t have much else. I can’t get my guy to do any step overs while running and where is the button to tell your other players to make a run through?

Then to top it all off the game is actually easier on the harder levels than it is on regular as they attack more and leave gaps for you to exploit? It just feels very unfinished…

I personally don’t see PES6 as an improvement over previous versions at all and I see no reason to believe that PES7 will be any better…

Okay flame away 🙂

you really can’t compare the two titles in my opinion.I used to play fifa since it came out on the sega megadrive, and was hooked up untill fifa 2004,when I friend opened my eyes to PES-
Ill agree that it doesnt seem like much changes from year to year, but its as Seabass says -“its like putting on a new pair of boots”-they built on previous titles, instead of completely overhauling it -this is the key to perfection-progression and evolution-I love the fact that ones timing has to be precise, and compared to fifa, you’ll have to spend some quality time with the game ,and “evolve” yourself-whereas fifa is more of a mainstream, pick up and play kinda game -probably focussed at giving first timers a “chance”I really find the gameplay of fifa quite stagnant and at times it seems as if the players are on “rails” or set motion paths?it feels very blocky and doesnt move as fluidly as PES.I can understand why you would be slagging off PES,you dont understand it yet. you have to play the game all the time,to truly appreciate its greatness, and every day you’ll be surprised with something new
BTW to send players on runs -press either R2 after u pass the ball and to make that player run, or hold down L1 as you pass –
PES is by far the superior football simulater, and fifa will always be 2 years behind them, although graphically its looking superb.

Stepover? lol what kind of step over? there are so many-the basic one is R2x2-the slower one- is L1x2 -certain players can do the elastico/akka when u press L1x3/R2x3 plus countless feints and turns-the lovely thing is that every player is unique.
there is also a secret manual that shows you numerous secret moves, which Im not going to post here : )
hope you get a warm feeling in your heart, next time you score one of those ridiculous,no skill involved fifa goals -just remeber that it means nothing in the real world of football.

How can u even compare the 2 games,I’ve always been a fan of fifa, pes is much better due 2 the realistic gameplay, in fifa the players are like robots, graphics need 2 be improved on pes and all teams should be licence and more rewards should be given similar 2 in fifa, even though I think pes4 was whack! Fifa need 2 concentrate more on game play and then maybe we’ll play dat whack game….

Yeah it has been pointed out by a few people now that I am obviously just not very good at PES… Granted this may be the case but these comments like FIFA is nothing like real football and if you don’t play football you won’t understand PES are just insane.

Seriously I have played football for over 15 years and I can tell you that sitting on my couch drinking a beer while scoring goals in PES is nothing like real football either 🙂

I will try the tips you gave me there Viktor thanks….

    (rolf) I mean really…

FIFA ain’t got nothing on PES. PES is football. Fine, FIFA has the graphics, but PES has the gameplay!! I stopped playing FIFA in ’99 when a mate introduced m to ISS. Truth be told, I have never looked back…

    PES FOREVER!!

I think PES and FIFA fans have a lot to like about their respective games. Unlike most, I try not to be bias towards either. I think that the competition this year between the two will be more competitive than ever. Over the last three years, Pro Evo has probably been on top because of the gameplay but I think FIFA has some far more innovative ideas this time round. The Be a Pro and promised new gameplay look good. Personally I’ve been playing PES for the last 3 years and I don’t even own a FIFA game but depending on reviews, this year could be different. Could you adjust tactics like formation etc. in FIFA 07 much as in PES6?

I feel your pain jemo, they only add the leagues that have the most financial backing really… Asian, American and European…. The only way to fix this is to get everyone in your country to buy a console :p
