It’s a very rare occurrence that I would complain about free DLC being offered but in this case it just doesn’t feel right.
EA have announced that, come September, they will be offering patching FNR4 to enable button controlled punching on top of the current stick controls.
The problem I have with this is that the stick controls work better, they are more intuitive and they have a slightly steeper learning curve. You are also prone to miscalculating the swing.
All of which makes the online portion of FNR4 really entertaining, you can be up against the ropes with your opponent preparing to throw a haymaker and he miscalculates, you block counter and knock his ass down.
That’s the beauty of boxing and it’s that which I feel may be lost when the button controls are enabled.
It is refreshing to see companies respond to requests from fans though so I think this is a classic case of damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
In other good news EA will also be releasing a new DLC pack which includes some extra sliders to customise your fighter some more and an alternative view of Sugar Ray Leonard.

Thank goodness , my right thumb has got no feeling this morning after a few online fights last night.

This is a dumb move imo. This takes all the skill out of thie game, as it’s so easy to just button bash, and produce otherwise impossible combos.

I agree with Reaver, button bashing should be banned forever! 😈
