With the Blizzard conference in full swing, it was the usual, albeit welcome, news regarding their core franchises, Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft. But what drew a collective gasp out of the assembled journalists wasn’t the announcement of rare runes that are planned for Diablo 3, but that Blizzard is actually “interested” in designing for consoles.

While the two speakers for Diablo 3 were being introduced as they walked onto stage, it was during the announcement for Josh Musqueira, Lead Designer on console for Diablo 3 that Blizzard basically just admitted that they wanted to develop Diablo 3 for console, but we’d have to wait for the Q&A session before we could get any clarification on that.

With the question surrounding Musqueiras title finally asked, Blizzard commented on how they were in love with the idea of bringing Diablo 3 to consoles, and that the company was actively recruiting the right people to see if this could be feasible.

Blizzard was hush on any other details, but expect to hear more from them at Blizzcon later this year.
