It appears Gametrailers.com has been caught being a little bit naughty.
Dale sent me the link to our local PS3 blog which has posted the above video showing that Gametrailers.com tried to pass off a really cool crash scene as being inside the 360 version when it is quite obviously from the PS3 version.
Was this an innocent mistake or a sign of an underlying bias on the side of gametrailers?
Honestly with all the politics in the industry at the moment it’s impossible to know who to believe anymore. I need to organise a proper capture card to make our own video’s… Anyone got any recommendations?

A capture card is an excellent idea Lazy.

While there’s no accounting for some, fanboys lurk everywhere, I reckon the mistake is too obvious to be intentional, I mean the buttons are a completely different colour, you can’t miss it. If the editor was baiting fanboys he would’ve been looking out for something like that.
Anyway, GT isn’t some pokey fanboy site, it’s pretty corporate, they have no interest to serve favouring one or the other.

I’ve always thought that Gametrailers has been a reliable source of information, and I’m going to stick to my guns and say that this was probably an honest mistake, it does happen got to hand it to theses guys they stare at video’s everyday for every hour putting it all together all that has to happen is someone label’s the footage incorrectly! hell you may even find that the guy editing the footage doesn’t know the difference between consoles.

Relax guys. I think you are a bit off here Lazy. Click on this link: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/6195.html
You can see Gametrailers have labeled it ‘PS3 Gameplay Debut’. It says PS3 and not 360 😯 .So I don’t understand what all the fuss is about.
Youtube is saying the video you posted is no longer available 😕

It’s just an honest mistake. Remember the Project Gotham Racing 3 screen shots labelled as PS3? I can’t remember by whom but that was just a mistake as well. Sometimes I pity these gaming journalists, it’s a fine line between unbiased and fanboy scum-of-the-earth garbage in the eyes of gamers.

The video is back again,
I would have saved it for Friday but it’s actually just a little over the top to take to seriously. Gametrailers.com don’t even have a head to head up at the moment so I am not 100% sure of what is happening

I remember that. It wasn’t just some arb guy, it was Sony’s PSP Connect that used PGR3 screenies for GT:HD 😆
There were a few that did it, KIA as well

I finally ranked number 1 and scored all gold medals this weekend in PGR3 😛

Honest mistake maybe? I use Gametrailers on a daily basis, but yes they did botch this one up. They removed the video in question and started deleting all posts and comments quickly. Is it that hard for a site to admit they screwed up?

I have to agree, I have made my fair share of mistakes but I have never removed a post to try and cover it up…
It just makes everything seem much worse

Well, if it’s posted erroneously then you would as an acknowledgement that it’s wrong, but you would replace it and make sure it’s cleat taht you have.
They have replaced it with a “PS3 demo footage” clip which is probably what it was supposed to be in the first place.

Good man. I was about half way through with gold medals, then I traded the game for GRAW 😎

Thanks man. PGR3 still looks great considering its age 😎 I was attempting to trade PGR3 but I can’t depart with it

Nope… The original video footage was an XBOX vs PS3 comparison showing crashes, but the videos were all taken from PS3 footage, with all the cool crashes labelled as XBOX.. That’s what all the talk was about… It was never just a PS3 demo video…. 😉 Someone had to edit the video and overlay the console names.. Not a 2 sec job… 😉

Joystiq has an interview with the GT EIC. Basically the video editor isn’t a game player and someone misnamed the source files. The proper version is on the way.
Oh and for the apparent comments in the video? There aren’t any, GT doesn’t put comments in their comparisons.

I think the comments reffered to are the ones under the posted video from the public that were quickly deleted. Anyway, they now say it was a mistake, but seriously, there was never any doubt that that’s what they would have to say regardless. 🙂

Perhaps someone could enlighten me… Was the *original* video posted to highlight the superiority of the Xbox360’s crashes? That’s what I thought anyway… Or was it just a normal comparison, without them claiming superiority of either console?
The reason I ask if because I just watched the HD version of this trailer, and I have to say this is probably the FIRST Xbox/PS comparison I have ever seen where I couldn’t make out ANY noticeable difference WHATSOEVER between the two. They look positively identical to my eye, as if they used one console again (snigger).

Gametrailers.com never comment on which version they think is better. The ‘better’ accident uproar was purely down to whoever made the video above..
