Gears 2 active sniper will not down

One of the most annoying aspects of Gears of War 1 was that active reload sniper.

In the multi-player game it was often the case where your opponent managed to down you with that sniper and then you know the game was over, as all they needed to do was not to miss their active reload and keep downing you until you died.

This left you with just a feint hope they would miss the active reload or shot.

However CliffyB has popped into the NeoGAF forums and confirmed that the sniper in Gears 2 will not have this ability.

Will this take away a lot from the game or even it up? Only time will tell

Headshots FTW . Now wil require more skil and more satisfaction to get a kill. This together with the crawl could make interesting gameplay.

What is the advantage of getting an active reload then?
But I think this is a good thing, no more 3 Shot Yeti.

Thats funny because in the video posted last week of the MP, some guy gets downed by the sniper. Now we cant assume he hadn’t taken damage yet but it didn’t look like it, he was downed and then he crawled away.

I think it will still be possible… just now you have to hit a more vital spot.

In Gears 1 an active sniper shot brazing your armour on your elbow would down you… it seriously sucked.

Epic aren’t that stupid. They won’t make it a useless weapon… they’ll just balance it.
