According to the guy who posted this video up on YouTube, the Gears of War 2 Dark Corners Map Pack was accidentally released onto Xbox Live for a very short amount of time, allowing anyone who noticed them to grab them at light speed before they were hastily taken back off.

So thanks to YouTube user and Xbox Gamer “UGoTBlinDFireD” (Yeah, I know…) we get to take a look at the maps that will be releasing at the end of July. This video shows off the new maps named All Fathers Garden, Highway, Memorial, Nowhere, Sanctuary, Way Station as well as the return of one of my all time favorite maps from the first Gears of War, War Machine.

So we have the video for you to ogle at but I know that all of you out there are actually wondering if we are even going to be able to play them (Thanks, once again to Germany) with the current IP restrictions that we face in South Africa.

Well, check out the video after the jump and I will tell you if we are actually going to be able to play them or not.

Ok for those of you who don’t know this already, I hope you are sitting down, because the news isn’t great.

You see, in the beginning the All Fronts expansion was going to be released on disc for the low price of around R200 (Dark Corners would be available seperately for 1200 MS points) and would include all of the map packs released so far. This basically meant that most of us would be able to get our hands on everything and have no download worries.

Now, thanks to people who bitched about the price of the standalone pack, it has been decided that All Fronts would be dropped down to only 1200 MS Points but would now only be available on Xbox Live Marketplace.

In short, yes we are screwed again and the only glimmer of hope for us was cancelled.

This really is another sad day for us because if anything, this complete pack would finally be able to unite all South African players once and for all and allow everyone to join the fun without the game being spoiled by one or two players that don’t have the maps.

Let’s hope that something rises up to save the day but at this point, I can honestly say that I highly doubt it.

The pack becomes available on July 28.

Planning on using a VPN service to pick these up. Glad I held off until now. The disk would have been ideal though 🙁
