clip_image001Over on the Neogaf forums someone has posted a whole heap of information about the upcoming Gears of War 2.

I have to say that I was slightly worried that they may bugger this game up with the sequel but after reading through the list it sounds absolutely fantastic….

Be warned though there are some spoilers, but not very intense ones…

In a nutshell, the drop-and-pop system stays and is just refined, the graphics are a marked improvement over the first version and the size of the game is epic in scale.

We are going to have true drop-in / drop-out co-op play, but we don’t know if it will be 2 or 4 players yet. The much anticipated chainsaw duels are still in and one of the biggest changes will be the amount of enemies on the screen at one time. Epic want to move away from Gears being very personal and to try show the entire war that is raging… Hopefully it doesn’t become to impersonal though.

There is an even easier difficulty being added than casual and what is really cool is that when you play co-op you can both be on different difficulties…. (2 player co-op only?)

There are new enemies being added and in Cliffy’s own words

We have creatures that make the Brumak look like a baby panda bear

Plus a whole whole lot more, follow the link for the rest of the details and some information on the story.

“Gears of War 2 is real, and it looks every bit as formidable and impressive as we hoped. It’s bigger and better than before, and the people making it are insistent that you’ll be playing it in its entirety in just over half a year.” -Game Informer

Sweet! Now what worries me the most is whether the enemy AI will be dropped to a lower level to accommodate for the huge numbers.
