God Of War Creator says no to Blu-Ray

Blu-Ray

Someone hasn’t been reading the memo’s in the office. David Jaffe the creator of the hugely successful God of War series was asked what he would have changed about the PlayStation3.

When asked what he would change about the PlayStation 3, he responded, “I probably would have taken the Blu-ray out and sold it for less money.” Of course, hindsight is always 20/20, but Sony certainly doesn’t seem to view the inclusion of Blu-ray as a mistake. Jaffe didn’t outright label it a mistake either, but he’s the first Sony employee (to this editor’s knowledge) to even question the need for Blu-ray.

So since he is the developer (kind off) and Phil Harrison has been pounding on about how the developers need Blu-Ray this seems to be a bit of a contradication.

I do however fully agree with David Jaffe, the PS3 becomes a much more appealing machine without Blu-Ray and at R3500 – R4000…

I still wonder if Blu-Ray is going to make or break the PS3

If you look at the sales volumes it would seem as if Sony made the right decision to muscle their Blu-Ray format into homes across the globe via the PS3. It would seem that there are enough PS fans out there to actually shell out the cash and get a ballistic console, and so Sony achieves their quest to trump HD DVD with Blu-Ray
