Golden Eye

Well this leaves a bit of a bad taste in your mouth. Apparently the above image is an ingame screen shot of GoldenEye running of a Xbox 360. This isn’t some weird hack, this is the full game optimised and ready for release by Rare and Activision. However you are never going to see it.

Apparently Nintendo’s Japanese boss, Satoru Iwata, has decided that under no circumstances may GoldenEye be released on any other platform. This is even after Rare and Activision had agreed to create a version for the Wii as well.

Now Nintendo actually has no say in what happens with this licence, however Activision is worried about the power of Nintendo and has agreed not to release it. I somehow think the success of the Wii has gone to Nintendo’s head and if they carry on down this road they will become as arrogant as the previous gaming powerhouse.

No surprise. Nintendo is the least consumer-friendly console maker out there, despite its baby kissing and granny hugging image.

I wouldn’t call Microsoft a gaming powerhouse just yet.

I was insinuating that the previous gaming powerhouse was Sony. They were overly arrogant in the beginning of this generation. Luckily they seem to be mellowing now

that’s very disappointing, but on the other hand I didn’t really care too much about this game, I’m more excited about Activision other line-up … Star Wars anyone?

What is the Wii going to do with a 1080p FPS in their stable. It’s like having a left hand drive Corvette but you can’t drive it(locally).

@Lazy- Amazing how Sony paid so much attention to the PSP that they forgot to hurry up the delivery of the PS3.I have seen the DS available locally. I doubt it will have the Wii effect.

LAzy, it’s not a new thing from Nintendo, they have always been a consumed by their own self importance. That’s how they lost it to Sony in the first place.

As far as Goldeneye goes, it all seems a bit odd really, I’m not convinced.

Now I get it. If you look at Nintendo’s sales figures I assume that they must be worried that most gamers would just go abd buy the 360 version because there is a possibility that people own more than one console. Especially if you own a Wii you would want to also own another console for “normal” gaming and all the hi-def goodness. The way also lacks cross platform games.

I think history has a big part to play in this. GoldenEye is widely regarded as one of the best shooters ever. Nintendo don’t want that reputation to be diluted by the fact that it can be played on another console, in a newer format that it can’t compete with graphically.

Good business move from Nintendo (sucky for non Wii gamers), and Rare and Activision don’t really have any choice but to submit.

I totally disagree, Rare don’t give a Rats bum, to the contrary Nintendo should be on it’s knees begging Rare to release some of their catalogue on Virtual Console, Like Banjo etc etc.

Activision as well, the only game of theirs that has sold well on Wii is Guitar Hero, which frankly sold well on everything. Nintendo has more to lose with the loss of Activision on Wii than Activision does, because people will simple pick up a PS2 or 360 arcade if they don’t have it on Wii.

No, I reckon there’s something else, but I have no idea what. Maybe the whole thing is leading up to a massive April fools joke?

I’d be somewhat disappointed if the game came out on the 360. It was a Nintendo game after all…

The more annoying part is that I only have a PS3 >.<

If this comes out, I’m bringing an Xbox home next time I go to the mall…
