GTA4's DLC On It's Way – Will PS3 owners laugh or cry?

Remember Grand Theft Auto 4? It’s the one where you play that odd Eastern European bloke that runs amok in Liberty City.

Of course you remember it, although you don’t hear it’s name as often as you used to. That’s because most of you have either gotten tired of babysitting your in-game friends or have finished the entire game and are waiting for the DLC to be released so that you can wreak havoc on the United States of Fast Food once again. (Well, on Xbox 360 anyway)

Well, if it’s DLC you want, I have some great news for you. If you only own a PS3 though, well then it’s a different story.

Kotaku reports that a nice chap from Microsoft had the following to say at the Leipzig Convention:

“In autumn there will be news from Liberty City; the first episodes of GTA IV will be available for download exclusively on Xbox Live””

Great news for Xbox 360 owners at least. Well, thats what Microsoft wants everyone to think considering that they apparently paid around $50 million for the goods. But how will this turn out? Will the DLC be large and amazing and make PS3 owners jealous and envious or will it land up being a half-job pack of useless content that makes Xbox 360 owners feel ashamed that they made such a big fuss about it in the first place?

With the quote making mention of news from Liberty City, we have to start wondering if all those rumours of entire new cities were just that, rumours and nothing else.

If it turns out to be anything like the Mass Effect DLC then I will happily save my Microsoft Points for something more worthwhile.

  1. I feel Rockstar and Microsoft have done gamers a big disservice by not outlining more clearly what this content would be when GTA IV launched, because I think many people would have made their decision about which version of the game and maybe even which console to buy based on it.

Serious question: how much do people still care about this DLC, anyway? GTA IV enjoyed a surge of great reviews and sales, but there seems to be very little hype about it at this stage of the game.

i got about 20 hours in. (about 35% done) don’t think i want to play further than that.

I’m guess the DLC will be expensive too. Probably 2400 points and blocked for SA anyway.

So a big fat meh! from me.

(Too many good retail games i’d rather spend my cash on in Q4 this year anyway)

I’m over GTA… Played it and now on to better things. I think they have taken too long to bring out DLC. How many people are honestly going to go and start playing it again unless they are die hard fans with all the new games that have come out and are coming out 😉
