Has Psychonauts been saved by Minecraft?

Yesterday, Geoff spoke about how no one wanted to make a sequel to that beloved Tim Schafer creation, Psychonauts. It’s a crying shame too, because the game was one of the most original and fun titles to appear on the PS2, and despite it not really raking in any cash, it still managed to become a cult hit over the years.

According to Schafer, who’s tried pitching a sequel numerous times, no one seems interested in ponying up some cash to revive the beloved game. Until now that is, as salvation has come through in the form of a certain bearded and hat-wearing icon in the gaming world.

Markus “Notch” Persson, the creative force behind Minecraft, obviously read the interview where Schafer explained how impossible it was to get funding for a sequel to be made, and then decided that he’d be more than willing to invest some of his massive fortune in the project, tweeting the following to Schafer;
