Here’s how Battlefield Hardline’s changing

Hardlimes

The next Battlefield game eschews the modern warfare, and is instead a protracted game of cops and robbers. What it doesn’t shrug off, is Battlefield 4’s aesthetic; the game looks, feels and plays like an expansion pack. That’s changing though. Thanks to the recent beta, Visceral has welcomed community feedback and is making a number of changes to how the game feels.

In a post on Battlefield.com, Visceral has outlined what they’ve learnt from the beta, and how your participation has helped make the game better.

  • 1. MOVEMENT:
There was a lot of feedback about slow movement speed and feeling “sluggish”.  We’ve increased player speed by 10%, and players will get a +10% bonus for running with their pistol out.  It feels much faster now!
  • 2. SUPPRESSION:
There were a lot of negative comments about the camera “bounce” when suppressed.  We’ve changed the way suppression works – your aimpoint is no longer affected, but your situational awareness is.
  • 3. SURVIVALIST:
We’ve heard both sides of the argument on the Survivalist gadget, it is pretty polarizing.  Some of you hate it, some of you love it – either way, we agree it was overpowered.  We’ve changed it to revive you at 1 health and auto-inject after 5 seconds.
  • 4. HIGH TENSION – CRANE CAMERA SHAKE:
A number of people called out the camera shake from this event as being too over the top.  We’re tuning this down.
  • 5. HIGH TENSION – STAIRS IN HIGH TENSION BUG:
Stairs in High Tension should no longer pull players into the wall.
  • 6. ELEVATED OBJECTIVES:
We’ve added some feedback to help you find the objective when it’s above or below you.
  • 7. SPECIAL VEHICLES:
We’re working on adding more special drivable vehicles like the Fuel Truck into all maps.  We’re also working on a handbrake for cars.
  • 8. STUCK VEHICLES:
We’re working on the ability to “nudge” vehicles with a melee attack to help get them unstuck or to be able to move past them.  No promises, but the early prototype looks promising!
  • 9. HEAVY VEHICLE DAMAGE:
We’ve added “weak spots” in the rear of the heavily armored vehicles, making it much easier to bring them down!
  • 10. VEHICLE OCCUPANT LIST:
We’re working on adding the Bag Carrier icon to the list of teammates inside your vehicle, so that you can tell when the bag carrier gets in your vehicle.

I’ve often run about with my pistol out, and all that got me was a weekend in a cell for indecent exposure. Expect these changes in the final game, when it’s out of beta roughly a year and a half after its retail release later this year.

Battlefield Hardline is out on PC, and the new and old consoles that aren’t Nintendo branded in October. It looks silly, and I have absolutely no interest in the game whatsoever. Gavin and Darryn think it’s going to be heaps of fun though.

That’s why I’ll probably play the criminals in this, I tend to sympathise with those who’ve fallen on hard limes.

Well you know what they say, if dice gives you lemons, make limes more visceral.

I agree 100% then again BF4 will be my last EA title ever. Im not even interested in Dragon Age Inquisition. I am sure Witcher 3 will fill that gap.

I still can’t believe it, a Battlefield game that I have no intention or desire to buy or play. You certainly work magic EA. I have to give you a bro fist for ending my addiction. EA’s plan to stop gamers from gaming and buying games is working!

I loved Payday 1/2, I’d hope they added some of those mechanics in this game. I hope Mr Timmypoo is wrong this time round.
