At BlizzCon earlier this month, Blizzard announced that Heroes of the Storm was getting two new characters in the form of Varian Wrynn and Ragnaros. That’s not all they have planned for the MOBA though. They also shared details on a promotion called ‘The Nexus Challenge’, which is now live.

What is ‘The Nexus Challenge’ exactly? Basically, it’s a nice way to welcome newcomers to Heroes of the Storm, all the while offering some neat rewards for longtime fans too.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept, is to party up with one or more of your friends and play at least 15 Heroes of the Storm games in Co-op vs. AI, Quick Match, Unranked Draft, or Ranked modes between November 15 and January 4.

Upon doing so, you’ll be handsomely rewarded with sweet in-game loot in both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm. Better yet, those of you fancy yourselves over-achievers can continue your campaign through the Nexus by completing 30 games to add even more to your growing Heroes of the Storm collections.

Additionally, those of you who primarily play Overwatch on console can link your Xbox Live® or Playstation Network® account to your Battle.net® account in order to ensure that you’ll properly receive your in-game Overwatch rewards on Playstation 4 or XBox 1 after completing the Nexus Challenge.

Hang on, Overwatch loot? That’s right, completing 15 games in Heroes of the Storm will earn players the Oni Genji skin, portrait, and spray. If you enjoy playing the cyber ninja, it might be worth putting the time into the MOBA:

Obviously, there are loads of actual Heroes of the Storm characters (and other goodies) up for grabs with this promotion too. This is perfect for, like I said, newcomers, but also those (like me) who may be missing some from their collection.

 15 games:

  • Zarya
  • Oni Genji Portrait

30 games:

  • Auriel
  • Greymane
  • Kerrigan
  • Li-Ming
  • Orochi Hovercycle Mount
  • 30 Day Stimpack

Thanks to ‘The Nexus Promotion’, I can look forward to getting my hands on Zarya, Auriel, and Greymane specifically. Not bad, not bad at all, especially considering that the first two are still pretty new to the MOBA.

What’s nice is that there’s no rush. ‘The Nexus Promotion’ will be running from now right up until the 4th of January. That’s more than enough time to sink in 30 games of Blizzard’s addictive MOBA.
