How Sledgehammer is changing Call of Duty

Just over a week ago I had the chance to go hands-on with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for the first time. I’ve already told you how different it feels, which could be both a good and bad thing when it finally reaches shelves in little over a month. I also got to sit down with Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield, to ask him how the studio set out to re-inventive Call of Duty.

Turns out all it needed as an Exo-Skeleton. That’s the most noticeable change in this year’s Call of Duty, something which Sledgehammer had in right from the start. Schofield explained that there wasn’t always this objective to change up gameplay so drastically, but rather that it just happened. Sledgehammer enjoyed playing around with the Exo Skeleton, and so it stayed.

It changes up multiplayer in a big way, something which may alert diehard eSport players. Sledgehammer aren’t ignorant to this, which is why they’ve been tweaking the numbers, testing it out and repeating almost unhealthy. The result is a system that they think is balanced and fair, which won’t interfere with the highly competitive nature of Call of Duty multiplayer. I just wish it was a little more fluid.

You can check out the full interview below, and shout at me for my terrible camera setup skills as well. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches on November 3rd, and I’m pretty excited for it.

I am not a COD hater for sake of being one so I will say this – I am also very interested to see what Sledgehammer can do with single player. Multiplayer will probably be MP…it isn’t going to be a puzzle game all of a sudden obviously!

Well you never know – they could inject something interesting. MP will be MP as I said; but single could be interesting. Miracles happen…

How is Call of Duty going to change. By not changing at all. Copy and repeat. Call for the copy folder, your Duty is to repeat.

    Don’t Support Call of Duty.
