How to upload your face into WWE 2K18

Another year, another WWE game. Hello everyone, I’m Darryn from Critical Hit, or as I like to call myself…BAD NEWS BONTHUYS! OOHHH YEEAAAAAAH! SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM! Much like WWE games of old, WWE 2K18 allows you to craft a superstar who happens to bear a certain resemblance to you. That’s because you can upload your face into the game, taking the custom aspect of being a rookie superstar to the next level. So how do you do it? Let’s break down the steps:

1. Take a decent selfie

Yup, ignore granddad and go find a nice neutral colour wall to stand against and take your selfie. A white wall works best, but anything with a flat surface colour will do just fine. Make certain that you’ve got a neutral facial expression for this, that you’re looking directly at the camera and that you’re not earing any bulky clothing. In fact, it may be best to not be wearing anything on your torso at all.

2. Ready your photo

With your headshot in hand, bring up Photoshop or MS Paint even, and trim that photo. A picture of around 512 x 512 is recommended, and a PNG does even better. If you don’t know how to do either, don’t worry. You’ve got a flat background, and your smartphone most likely has an option to crop that image to a square shape.

3. Upload your photo

Next, you’ll want to head to the WWE 2K18 website, and select the Image Uploader option in the top left corner. Navigate through, select “Face Photo” in the menu and upload your face.

While you’re here, remember that any other images uploaded can also be used for other custom stuff, like superstar tattoos.

4. Boot up WWE 2K18

WWE Face 2

Inside WWE 2K18, navigate to Community Creations. Go to Image Manager, then download your photo which will pop up.

5. Start crafting your Superstar

From there, go back to WWE Creations and then New Custom Superstar. Select Face, select Face Photo Capture and then press R1/RB to highlight Downloaded. And there you are! You can now start playing with your face, altering and shaping it to the superstar body in front of yo. Go wild, experiment and don’t be afraid to be silly. It takes some time to perfect the art of creating a photorealistic wrestler in WWE 2K18, but that’s half the fun.

Now show us some of your up and coming superstars already.

When viewing the above image I keep hearing Fat Bastard yelling ‘Come ‘ere, I’m gonna eat ya’ – for some reason.

How does this compare to Fifa? I tried Fifa’s face import thing a couple of years back and felt it worked quite nice actually.

I honestly couldn’t tell you, having never experienced that system myself. What I can say with the WWE 2K18 creation suite, that there are options aplenty for adjusting every aspect of your face.

A friend of mine’s trying to do this, and all works well until pushing RB to highlight downloads. Any idea why this is?
