Above is a screenshot of one of the most exciting PS3 exclusives to be announced this year.
2 Player Pong by Dragula96…
So why is this the most exciting exclusive of the lot? Well because it has been created by a member of the community and is available to download right now from here.
Granted it’s not pretty or very interesting but it’s a huge step forward for the idea of community gaming on the PS3. If they manage to kick it off and move forward it could be a big blow to Microsoft’s community network.
Thought without some serious development tools I don’t think that is going to be the case.

Lol, is it okay to think of it as the first step towards the moon?
Or maybe that should be Uranus?

will this game actually work if you download it.
I mean this is pretty much like the homebrew PSP stuff, but we had to hack our PSPs to get that stuff working.
Have Sony left open a little hole in their firmware allowing unsigned code to run, or have they knowingly allowed this ?

You should be able to click the link above, download it and run it from the Linux side of the PS3 ( I think)…
You need to install Linux first most probably though.

It’s a community written game running on the PS3. That is the news, not that it’s pong

Surely they’ve had other Linux games running on the PS3 before now?

Its not running in Linux.
Its using BD-J .. the blu-ray java.
So you put this on a usb flashdrive and run it as a “movie” which bascially puts you into the game as the PS3 thinks your on some blu-ray’s special features or menu or whatever.
I don’t think BD-J will give your all the power of the PS3, just like Linux is limited and can’t get access to the GPU.
