Is Fable Heroes Lionhead’s surprise?

There’s currently a countdown clock on Lionhead’s site. It’ll be done in just two hours, presumably lifting the curtain on Peter Molyneux’s next project – but it seems the cat may have been let out of the bag a little prematurely.

While I was hoping for a Kinect-powered Black and White (so I could kill an entire settlement of villagers just by wringing my evil little hands together), it looks like we’ll be getting…more Fable!

Fable Heroes has turned up on the Xbox Marketplace – bearing the same button in its logo as the one currently on the Lionhead’s teaser-iffic countdown timer.  While the announcement of yet another Fable might make many of you groan, this does look a little different; an XBLA title that’s a bit like a cartoony mash of Castle Crashers and Mario Party.

“Fable Heroes is a fresh spin on the beloved Fable franchise in which up to 4 players play both cooperatively and competitively in this hack-and-slash adventure. Work together as heroes of Albion to defeat familiar foes and new enemies while collecting as many gold coins as possible to unlock upgrades, characters, and items in both this game and Fable: The Journey for Kinect for Xbox 360,” says the blur on Xbox.com.

It’s too soon to judge the game – we’ve only a handful of screenshots available – but if this is what the site’s been teasing, then consider me let down by Lionhead.

Again.
