Is PES the king of Footie sims again?

For a long time, PES (That’s Pro Evolution Soccer; not to be confused with those candy-dispensing heads) was the undisputed champion of football games. It might not’ve had the licenced teams of its competition from EA, but it offered players a better feeling; a much more accurate simulation of the beautiful game. Well, that’s what I’ve been told anyway. Sports just…aren’t my thing. In recent years though, the series has stagnated, leaving FIFA to take the crown – becoming not just the better selling title, but the bigger fan favourite as well. this year though, it seems Konami’s back to take the championship.

Football fans who’ve played the two available PES 2013 demos have been blown away, unable to shut up about its glory (though I wish they would for a moment). thing is, they could have a point – as review score for Konami’s revitalised football game can attest. The game will be available nationwide this Friday – but here are some reviews to whet your appetite in the mean time – with many of them saying that this year, Konami’s outclassed EA’s FIFA 13.

CVG – 9.1/10
Eurogamer.it – 8/10
IGN – 8.5/10
Inthegame – 9/10
Metro – 7/10
NowGamer – 9.1/10
OPM – 8/10
PlayStation Universe – 8.5/10
Shopto – 5/6
OXM – 8/10
VGZ – 90/100
Videogamer – 8/10

Any of you planning on picking it up this weekend? I would, only y’know…I hate sports games and I’d much rather play Borderlands 2.
