Fancy yourself a player? Think you’ve got the skills to take on the best in your area? Then the dedicated dudes from arguably the country’s most able console gaming tournament organisers Maingaming.co.za have you covered. Continuing their Mall Invasion tournament tour, they’re setting up tournaments for your favourite competitive multiplayer titles in malls across the country, this time hitting Clearwater Mall in Johannesburg’s North West.

Here’s what you can play :

FIFA 2011 ( 17 September )

It’s nearly time for FIFA 12’s release – and what better way to see out the old than a tournament? It’s time to show off your ball skills in a world class, 2 leg tournament. Registration takes place between 9 and 11 in the morning, so make sure you register early to secure your spot.

Mortal Kombat 9 (19 September)

NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat is proving itself to be a worthy tournament fighter, drawing in crowds and popularity that rivals that of tournament darling Street Fighter IV. Pit yourself against the best in a standard 2/3 round, 99 second format competition.

Rugby World Cup (1 October)

Gamers have got the first Rugby game in ages, and there’s no better way to see how well it’s suited to tournament play than by using it an actual tournament.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 (2 October)

The bloody, visceral style of Mortal Kombat not your cup of tea? Maybe you prefer the crazy, hyper-speed epileptic nature of cross-over fighter Marvel vs Capcom.

Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 (8 October)

Take on the other FPS fans in a Free-For-All, every-man-for-himself frag-fest on Modern Warfare 2’s infamous Terminal map.

Tekken 6 (8 October)

Take on opponents and become the King of the Iron Fist in a fighting game that’s more centred in reality. Well, as a real as a pair  ass-kicking, boxing-glove wearing Kangaroos seeking financial stability can be. It’ll be a  round robin group-based competition, with winners going on to a double elimination knock-out stage.

Gran Turismo 5 (1-9 October)

Yeah, you petrolheads are catered for as well. There’s a GT5 tournament with players hitting the Suzuka Circuit for three laps in vehicles no stronger than 500bhp with a weight limit of 1100Kg.

Prizes for each tournament have yet to be announced, but knowing the effort these guys put in, they’ll be more than worthy of your time. Registration for each competition is between 9 and 11 on the day of the tournament, so make sure you’re at the Centre Piazza Court where it all goes down early to avoid disappointment. Main Gaming runs a tight, professional ship and they’re doing all they can to increase awareness and promote gaming – and they deserve your support.

See more, here.
