Jeff Minter loses it

So hands up who knows who Jeff Minter is? Yeah didn’t think so, anyway dear old Jeff is the head of Llamasoft, the creators of Space Giraffe (hands up who actually paid for that) for the Xbox Live Arcade and other titles.

Well he recently found out that Frogger outsold his game by 10:1 and had these wonderful words of wisdom for us all.

not seeing a lot of reason to continue even trying to make games, at this point, when a remake of Frogger, one of the worst games in the history of old arcade games, can outsell Space Giraffe that we put so much love and effort into, by more than ten to one, in one week.
OK, we get the message. All you want on that channel is remakes of old, shite arcade games and crap you vaguely remember playing on your Amiga.
We’ll shut up trying to do anything new then.

Well Jeff, to be perfectly honest I didn’t like Frogger, however it was ten times more entertaining than that rubbish Space Giraffe that you hoisted upon us. Honestly Space Giraffe is one of the few games where I was actually upset about wasting the bandwidth I used to download it.

If you want people to buy your games then make something fun, original is good, but games are meant to be fun… Oh and maybe next time try make a game that doesn’t require player to consume 4 tons of LSD before understanding the freaking point.
