Killzone 2 – Direct Feed Gameplay

It looks like I may end up eating my words on this one, here are two new direct feed gameplay video’s of Killzone 2.

All I can really say is wow, this game is looking absolutely fantastic now, is it possible that all the hype may actually be correct after all?

I really hope so, if the gameplay is anywhere near as good as these graphics then I think we may have a new leader in the FPS races….

Have to agree – didnt think Killzone 2 will ever live up to the hype, but after watching those this title has seriously moved up the ranks in my wanted list. It looks incredible 😀

Yeah, the gfx does look very cool. Apparently they are actually using 4 spe’s of cell full time.

That said, the gameplay does look very average… like a normal fps. They show of that cover system, but it doesn’t look like you have/want to use it. I think this game will turn out to be much like crysis. All about the visuals with pretty average gameplay. Anyway, they’ve 6months left.

    well colour me impressed.

@kabraal, sometimes you don’t need to innovate gameplay too much to make it a good game. I think the best example of this is Half Life 2, despite the physics engine being groundbreaking for it’s time, the gameplay itself was fairly standard FPS fare. They just did it …right. Maybe the same will happen for Killzone.

At a glance it does look like a prettier COD4 though. Which isn’t neccesarily a bad thing. Looks like PS3 fans finally got something to shove in us 360 fanbois face 🙂

Am I the only one that thinks this is going to be a bit of a cheesy game?

A very pretty cheesy game but a cheesy game non the less.

Despite the fact that it was clearly a tongue in cheek comment. I’d say it’s a fair commentary on the console war. Let’s face it, on the gaming side the PS3 has been lagging somewhat.

Seeing stuff like this is making me believe that the developers are finally understanding what needs to be done to make that console a worthy adversary.

Read my whole post before thinking it was a purely juvenile post.

and yes, the elephant in the room is Gears of War 2, it will be very interesting to see how Gears2 and Killzone 2 stack up to each other when the final products are released.

cheese = mass appeal. A neccessary evil if you want to push millions of units. 😛

I am really impressed with the way the game is looking. But I am sorry to say that it’s looking a heck of a lot like COD4, now I know they have been working on this game for long, so its not their fault, it is a damn shame though. Graphics are better, but gameplay, setting and feel are very COD though.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, that it looks very similar to COD 4. It looks pretty well like I would expect an FPS game to look at this point – I’m not blown away.

2Three’s last blog post..Left 4 Dead has serious potential

If it looks and plays like COD4, I’d be very happy.
