Killzone 2 previewed… it’s not good

Ausgamers.com has posted a detailed preview of the upcoming PS3 exclusive Killzone 2 and to put it nicely… the game is nothing special.

They did mention that the AI was at least passable this time and the graphics were pretty. However apart from that it is not looking good for the ‘Halo-killer’

The gameplay is stereo-typical FPS and the controls are clunky.

The best compliment that was made about the game is that it looks good for what it is… however what it is is boring, grey and mundane.

Hopefully the online ability will save it but for now it looks like another expensive failure for Guerilla Games

If you don’t believe me then click through and take a look for yourself.

Lazy stop posting this biased dribble… 🙂 Nothing i wasn’t expecting to be honest (not a fanboy comment). Im really sick of fps’s in general. im looking forward to too human/fable 2/fallout 3 to give me something to look forward to.

  • SlippyMadFrog

Lazy, how dare you report on negative PS3 news you Xbot troll!!! 👿

  • Vamp

You just don’t learn, do you

  • OddSockZA

I consider Killzone to be pretty generic FPS Fare. Then again, i think the same of Halo. 😛

  • Avayaik

I say we’ll all be playing Far Cry 2 when this comes out anyway.

  • kabraal

Which ofc, looks pretty much like a bland FPS… with fire…

  • Charl

This game might be a year .. or two .. too late to the party. Atleast the tech is nice.

  • ps3 fanboy nr 1 here…. I could have told you this will be crap… overhyped just as haze.. watch this fail… hell even LBP might suffer this fight, too human as well

  • This is exactly what I have been thinking about this game since we were shown the actual gameplay footage. Is anyone actually still excited about Killzone 2 though with all the great upcoming shooters on the horizon?

ye, this is not a good time for Killzone, as with all the monster games coming out, it might be just running into a gun fight, with a pink sneaky doll…

  • OddSockZA

The biggest problem with this game, and any other shooter, is that it’s not Left 4 Dead. 😀

  • PillsburyDeeBoy

    Who is Ausgamer, anyway?

  • LazySAGamer

    No idea 😕

But they apparently have had an insiders peak into the game

  • LazySAGamer

It’s the with fire part that makes it awesome….

And the AI is looking absolutely brilliant.. but I haven’t had a sneak peak myself yet

  • LazySAGamer

I actually have the opposite opinion.. Online multi-player is as boring as sin and the single player campaign was at least entertaining… 4 player co-op was by far the best thing going

  • My brother alos loved the single player… I think i did maybe 3 sections.. was planning on trying to do the rest the weekend…( wil have to see) I loved Prey much more

Why can’t you get your own preview of the game and then make your mind up about it…if they can , maybe you can too.

  • Vamp

    Hell Yeah! 😆

  • Kale

Come on dude. I’m no fan boy but you are taking the opinion on a demo level of a game 6 months before the game is set to release. Besides this is an Australian review, they probably had Sony tone down the colors because it would make kittens cry and reduce the violence for the Aus release – a-la Fallout 3.

The game could very well be another bland FPS but at least wait till the proper previews start arriving.

  • OddSockZA

    I’m with you, buddy.

i enjoyed the 4 player co-op, the online Mp bored me to tears. I’ve found that lately any game where the objective is “kill everybody” and you respawn, I get bored.

  • Syph1n

Hold on a sec here. So other previews on a demo level 6 months before release have merit but not an australian one?

    Yip. definately not fanboy speak

  • wwemark

The game hasn’t been released yet,how can anybody say whether its gonna be crap or not from a preview…until you play a game from beginning to end, you can’t judge it.

Im no fan of Killzone whatsoever…but give it a chance until you know for sure whether it sucks or not.

  • LazySAGamer

I have to disagree with you here,

Killzone lost it’s chance when fake trailers and screenshots got released. Now it has to prove itself

  • Oh, so only NOW everyone starts to agree with me? 😉

Personally I thought the final big red flag was when it got pushed to Q1/Q2 next year. Good games aren’t released in Q1/Q2, those are for the iffy ones that can’t stand up to the peak season competition.

  • Let’s wait till it’s released to draw conclusions. I personally think people will be disappointed because they are hyping the game up too much. Games like Battefield BC are great because they never got hyped, so we were never in for any disappointment even with all the bugs 😉

  • abe

I agree with Maxim, Iv almost got a feeling they are tryng to get rid of all the insanity thats been swilling around it, get rid of the hype and then actually achieve the seemingly inpossible and release a surprisingly good game.

    I hope 😕

I own both consoles,I prefer the 360 and I hated Killzone. The Aus thing was a joke – develop a sense of humor. I am just tired of the ammount of negative publicity this site spits on everything PS3 related.

    Like GTAIV?

  • Kale

    Thank’s man.
Saw the post this morning 🙂

And don’t think I wouldn’t expect the Wii, PS3, PSP and DS to get the some treatment…
