Major Nelson, the community leader over at Xbox, has announced that starting pretty much immediately the Kinect will receive a 27% price drop in North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

Then on the 4th of October Australia and New Zealand will also receive the price drop.

So that’s great news, cheaper is always better right?

But then he goes on to state that there will be no price drop for Japan or EMEA regions and we fall into the EMEA region.

No reasons were given for the lack of price drops in 2 of the 3 biggest regions in the world and it is pretty frustrating that Microsoft appears to pick at random which regions will be blessed with their generosity and which will continue to suffer.

The only logical reason I can think of is that Microsoft is trying to clear the Kinect out of the channels and that the EMEA and Japan don’t have much stock at the moment. The Kinect 2 is rumoured to be bundled with the next Xbox which is roundly expected to be released in November this next year so that would mean there is a lot of stock that requires clearing.
