We all know that Microsoft expected to sell 5 million Kinect units by the end of this year but right now we don’t really know if they are going to hit that or not.
However an analyst firm, Screen Digest, has been going over the figures and trends and has now thrown it’s hat in the ring with a prediction of 7.6 million Kinect units sold by the end of 2011. Personally I find that number far to low if Microsoft make the 5 million mark before the end of this year.
They also predicted that there will be 7.3 Move enabled PS3’s by the end of 2011 which I am taking doesn’t mean 7.3 million Move controllers sold but rather 7.3 million households with at least 1 operational Move controller.
And lastly 3D TV… they don’t expect it to do well at all next year and blame that on broadcasters only really 3D enabling sports and one off events and people don’t want to wear the glasses. The 3D TV’s which don’t require glasses are also still predicted to be a decade away from mass retail.
My take on those three are that I expect more than 7.6 million Kinects to be sold by the end of next year, the PS3 Move figures sound about right and I completely agree on the 3D TV prediction. It’s just not what people want.

It’s pretty funny seeing the change in attitude towards kinect. 5 Million seemed laughable a couple of months ago. Now it seems about right. Foot -> Mouth
I’m still not getting it though.
