With more time having passed in the league, a lot of teams saw their way towards completing their matches. There was also the added excitement of a brief flurry of activity as the transfer market opened for business.

Some of the movers and shakers making waves in the transfer market included Franck Ribery signing for Kinkster, Cesc Fabregas signing for zeo143 and Andrei Arshavin moving to JonasoZa.

In terms of the on pitch action, things have been heating up. A large amount of games were played, with the league starting to hit its bootstraps.

Some of the highlights were as follows:
Zonked and KeithNair played out an entertaining 2-2 draw where a Bordon header helped earn Zonked a share of the spoils.

Zonked saw off a Dion Govender fightback to edge a match 3-2. After going 2 goals up, Zonked saw Dion whittle his lead away before Ronaldo hit a winner.

Zeo triumphed over KeithNair by 2 goals to 0. He rode his luck as Keith hit the post on multiple occasions, but ultimately Drogba’s brace against the run of play secured the three points on offer.

A Klose hattrick saw Zonked beat JonasoZa in a dominant 3-0 performance, topped by incisive finishing.

JonasoZa and SodaZar fought out an evenly matched encounter where Jonaso and Soda both had plenty of chances, but 2 goals for van Persie saw Jonaso triumph by 2 goals to 1.

Jonas also managed to defeat Keith by a flattering 3-0 scoreline, with tightness in defence, and ruthlessness in attack being key.

Dion Govender lost 2-1 to Nemanjas Bullet in a clash of styles, where Dion, playing on the counter and through the middle took the lead thanks to an incisive passing move, but NB hit back with Iaqinta getting his head on the end of 2 crosses.

SodaZar beat Bullet 1-0 thanks to a matchwinning performance from Julio Cesar in goal and a clinical finish from Michael Own.

Zonked powered to a 2-0 win over Nemanja’s Bullet, in a match that saw the woodwork intervene a great amount, and keep the score away from what could easily have been a 5-2 result.

Nemanja’s Bullet strolled to a 5-2 win over Kinkster in a very open match that saw Luca Toni emerge with a hattrick, although Gareth Barry scored the pick of the goals with a dragback and backheel.

Nemanja’s Bullet limped to a 1-0 win over KeithNair thanks to a van der Vaart stunner from outside the penalty area, and despite a storming attempted comeback.

Dion Govender delivered Jonaso a 6-0 thumping, with that man Ruud van Nistelrooy scoring four in a convincing victory.

Zonked managed to beat NateDogg 3-0 in a one sided match thanks to a couple of headers and some smart 1-2 passing.

Nemanja’s Bullet managed to show the greater cutting edge to overcome MaxWills 2-0. MaxWills was guilty of some awful finishing on the day, most notably missing an open goal in the first attack of the match.

Meister and Nemanjas Bullet ground out a dour 0-0 draw, in a match that was not one for the spectators.

Meister triumphed by the odd goal against Dion by being the only one who managed to convert one of their chances during the match.

Zonked managed to thrill his supporters with a 3-2 win over Soda, who had managed to equalise twice after Zonked scored, but was unable to manage it a third time in what was an open and exciting contest.

With a large proportion of teams nearing completion of their league itinerary, the league table is starting to coalesce. The battle at the top looks to be a two race – a Z race if you will – as Zeo and Zonked are close at the top. Both sides have only dropped 4 points thanks to two draw a piece, but Zeo leads by 6 points. Wins for Zonked in his games in hand would see both sides level on points, and with both teams currently having identical goal difference it promises to be a nailbiting finish.

In mid-table, the teams looking to qualify for the end of season Super 8 are clustered. While KeithNair has a small amount of breathing space in third and is three points ahead of Dion in fourth, only four points separate the next four places down to Jonaso in 7th.

Towards the bottom of the table, there are several sides which need to get their act together to have any chance of qualifying for the Super 8. Most of the teams have a rallying chance of moving up the league if they can complete a greater amount of their games than they have up until this point.

Another area with some fierce competition is for the title of top goalscorer. Again it is closely fought, with Zeo’s Drogba currently leading the way with 15. Dion has the next two, with Diego Forlan one behind Drogba on 14. Other players to have hit 10+ goals include Dion’s van Nistelrooy and Zonked’s Dani Guiza and Miroslav Klose.
